Are cold air intakes a total waste of money?
See, the idea is that colder air is denser and contains more oxygen, which gives you more power when it mixes with fuel.
A cold air intake pulls that cooler air into your engine.
However on most stock cars, the power gain is actually very small and barely noticeable, since modern factory intakes are already so efficient.
But letβs be real, youβre just after that sweet sound and a much cooler look under the hood.
Itβs not permitted for use on cars sold in California or any state that adopted California smog regulations, thatβs why you donβt see them in auto parts store
CAI’s are definitely for power not just sound. Think of it like this if you put a cat back on but didn’t increase air intake you won’t get the HP you want. The same is true in reverse. Put them together with a large throttle body with a spacer and you have something. Yes lots of sound but more important is the HP and even slightly better fuel economy. But let’s face it your not doing this for MPG. YOU WANT MORE POWER!!!!!!
Listen people, do whatever mod you want to your car with your money. Just know that all mods, designed to make you go faster put more wear on your vehicle thus causing it to decline faster than manufactures planned. If you are ok with that knock yourself out.π€·πΏββοΈ
